Friday before last Matt's firm had a golf tournament. He played at Castle Hills Golf Course in Lewisville, TX. After losing the first nine holes by two strokes, Matt approached the next hole in a sour mood. Sour moods are generally a BIG part of his golfing experience. He had called me several times throughout the day to tell me how bad he was doing. Matt has attended these firm golf tournaments before, and had to leave for fear of "losing his religion" if he stayed. So this was pretty much one of those moments. At the next hole his partner, Ryan hit left; Matt hit right . . . right into what appeared to be a pristine creek bed. After much searching, Matt finally found his golf ball sitting atop a small crest in the creek bed. He climbed down several feet to the edge of the water to retrieve his ball. At water's edge, he took one step towards the golf ball, then promptly sunk up to his waste in quicksand. No joke. Matt went from 5'9" to 3'3" in a nanosecond. He tried to push himself up but only sunk deeper. Thanks to many late nights watching Survivor Man on Discovery, Matt distributed his weight and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . . FINALLY, a partner from his firm found him and actually passed him right up as he laughed hysterically at the ridiculous sight. This gentleman caught up with Ryan and asked if he had seen Matt. Ryan said no. Then Ryan asked if he knew where Matt was. He said he wasn't sure about Matt, but he did see a midget in the creekbed waving an 8-iron in the air and yelling in a panic. They obviously went back to rescue my crazy husband. All this time I was feeling bad about the fact that he wasn't having a good game. I called him several times and left messages on his cell phone to encourage him, and I decided to call again. This time he answered and in a whisper (because his partner was about to swing) I hear, "You're not gonna believe this, but I just fell in quicksand!" Matt said he had 5 pounds of mud on his feet and that he looked like a mud yeti. I nearly wet my pants when he told me this. If you know Matt, this is VERY funny. This whole ordeal seemed to lighten the moods, and Matt and Ryan went on to win the next holes and take the skin.
Here is a picture of him after he had done his best to clean up at the golf course and finished the rest of the game.

Seriously...I'm still laughing out loud and hope to someday walk past a midget swinging an 8 iron...how funny would that be?!?
