Reagan "Graduated" from his DOC Band on Friday. They seriously gave me a certificate! He basically outgrew the band and his head isn't severe enough to need another band. The pictures on the left of each page are the "before" pics. On the right are the "after" pics. You can tell, ESPECIALLY with the profile pics, that his head is much more round.
It's really quite an amazing process to make the band. They put panty-hose over his head (completely covering his face) and sit him on a stool to take 3D pictures of his head. They use those pictures to make a plaster replica of his head which is then used to make his band. (We got to bring it home...it's our little trophy!)
Every week we went for growth adjustments. The inside of the band is made of a dense foam material. Every week, they shaved a little more out of the inside to adjust for growth. The band is designed to direct growth, not to push anything back in. Since his head was slightly bigger in the right, front, and left, back, that's where they did all of the shaving.
So after a little more than 8 weeks, there are no more adjustments to be made. He looks like a different kid!
